As part of National Public Health Week and beyond,  POW'R Tobacco Cessation Center launched a social media outreach campaign, "Help Your Patients Stop Smoking",  to connect with New York healthcare providers as well as tobacco users outside the healthcare facility.  (http://www.powrcessationcenter.org/ClientUpload/DocumentsClientUplo... )

We've  also raised awareness of our programs and services through increased outreach:

For healthcare providers: on-site training using clinical practice guidelines, tobacco cessation materials for patients, additional education and credit opportunities, assistance on becoming a Tobacco-Free facility or campus, assistance referring patients to Quitline and other programs.

For tobacco users: resources and materials to assist in tobacco cessation, information of treatment options and and Medicaid coverage, outreach support and referral to quit programs.

And we've hosted a number of statewide educational sessions and workshops, to learn more about specific areas of tobacco cessation and intervention (http://www.powrcessationcenter.org/Pages/Tobacco_Cessation_Educatio...)

Learn More About CDC’s “Healthy Schools” Initiative

Research shows that when students eat healthy and are more physically active, they do better in school. With the help of CDC, communities nationwide are putting this research into practice, year-round.

Learn more about what communities are doing to help schools become places where students not only learn about the importance of eating healthier and being more physically active but, in fact, eat healthier and move more.
