There’s nothing like picking your own fresh produce, and the Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN) is making this a reality for more residents in Dorchester.
In 2011, BNAN renovated and expanded the Nightingale Community Garden in Codman Square, the largest community garden in Dorchester, which resulted in 120 new community garden plots.
They have also renovated several smaller gardens throughout Boston to increase access to more fresh fruits and vegetables and opportunities for residents to benefit from the social activities at their local community gardens.
Check out their website to find your nearest community garden or to learn more about growing your own food.

Research shows that when students eat healthy and are more physically active, they do better in school. With the help of CDC, communities nationwide are putting this research into practice, year-round.
Learn more about what communities are doing to help schools become places where students not only learn about the importance of eating healthier and being more physically active but, in fact, eat healthier and move more.
