To improve opportunities for physical activity, nutrition, and active living, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District is working with community partners to expand the number of public facilities, including schools, that are available for after-hours use for physical activity. San Antonio is also encouraging city development projects to improve protection for vulnerable users, in accordance with Complete Streets recommendations. The project also is implementing voluntary healthy food and beverage guidelines for local restaurants and conducting trainings for education leaders to improve physical activity and the availability of healthy foods in schools.
