The Tri-County Health Department is partnering with schools to enhance school wellness policies and support Safe Routes to School activities. The Department is also conducting an educational campaign to raise awareness of the many benefits of healthy eating and physical activity; advising municipalities in their city planning, zoning, and transportation efforts to promote physical activity and access to healthy foods; increasing signage for healthy menu items in restaurants; establishing community gardens to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables and physical activity; and supporting community partners in advancing additional policy, systems, and environmental changes to promote healthy eating and physical activity.
