Farm to School

The Farm to School program enhances existing meal programs in Wood County schools by introducing fresh, nutritious, local, and sustainably grown food to students in elementary school, middle, and high school.

The Farm to School program helps children reconnect with their natural world and strengthens links between the classroom and the community, while fostering a stable market for our local county farmers.

Get Active and get involved! Ask your school district, principal, or food service director to participate in your local Farm to School program. Our local schools need volunteers to assist Farm to School initiatives like taste testing of local produce. By getting involved, you’ll feel you are doing some good by supporting your local economy through the Farm to School program and improving the health of children in Wood County.

Whether you are a school staff member who would like to offer Farm to School programs to your students, or a parent/community member who would like to volunteer and support these programs or a farmer who wants to support Farm to School contact Sue Anderson 715-347-6460 or Beth Hanna 715-254-5373 for more information.
