What comes to mind when you think about your favorite Autumn things? Maybe it’s the colorful changing leaves, the excitement of football season, or a cozy sweater you put on as you take a weekend stroll. Do you think about all the seasonal vegetables available during fall? There’s a world of autumn produce available beyond the apples and pumpkins!
Pears – Sweet, juicy, and high in fiber, pears are good for digestion and a balanced metabolism. Like apples, pears come in an almost endless variety – try them all and find your favorite!
Arugula -- A peppery, nutty green that can be pretty strong on its own. Mix it with other lettuces for a salad, add it to soups or use it as a pizza topping.
Pomegranates – Full of antioxidants and Vitamin C, these little seeds have a slightly sweet and tart taste. Top them on your favorite salad or smoothie.
Sweet Potatoes – The dark orange flesh of a sweet potato signals it’s packed with beta carotene, which promotes eye and skin health as well as protection against infections. Try a baked sweet potato as a delicious treat!
Look for these fall treats at your local farmer’s market all season long!
