During the month of May, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is confronting the obesity epidemic from multiple angles — it hosted the Weight of the Nation conference and collaborated with Federal Government partners and HBO on The Weight of the Nation documentary.
The conference, held May 7-9 in Washington, D.C., brought together public health researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and national partners to share approaches that demonstrate success in improving healthy eating and active living.
The Weight of the Nation documentary consists of four feature films that take a look at the severity of the obesity epidemic and its impact on America’s health care system. There are also 12 bonus short films, one of which features Nashville, TN, a MakingHealthEasier.org community.
The films, originally broadcast on May 14-15 on HBO, will be repeated at select times throughout the month of May. If you aren’t able to watch the documentaries on HBO they will be available free of charge after the broadcast at theweightofthenation.hbo.com.
